Uncle Larry Walsh (mural)

2014 StreetWorks Visual Art Project, City of Maribyrnong:

Uncle Larry Mural Commissioned by the Maribyrnong City Council for the StreetWorks Visual Art Project, the Uncle Larry mural aims to make visible and celebrate the presence of an active First Nations elder within the Footscray community. The mural was produced in collaboration with Uncle Larry, and artists Tunni Kraus and Ronch Willner.

By showcasing Uncle Larry, a much loved indigenous storyteller in this large-scale mural the project aims were to foster a sense of recognition, respect, and appreciation for his cultural heritage, wisdom, and ongoing involvement within the community.

This mural which is currently still on the walls of the Footscray Community Arts Centre serves as a visual testament to the knowledge, and ongoing presence of First Nations people, promoting inclusivity and fostering a deeper understanding of indigenous culture among residents and visitors alike.
